We are happy with the results that we get from the V4 Develop function. The Unfold function will generatie flatten ruled surfaces in R However, we do happen to have the Composites WorkBench available and it has the ability to flatten unruled surfaces.

I don’t happen to be working on composite parts, but I am willing to consider a novel approach of using this workbench to flatten surfaces without having to revert back to the legacy system. Although I do have to do a few extra steps to create a ply and the associative parameters that I don’t really need – except to be able to flatten my surface. We have a very small number of test machines that have R17 generatkve on them.


Since geneeative capability is new as of R17, I’m not sure how good it is yet. Also, we will not be deploying R17 companywide for another year or two.


But the test machines could probably accomodate the frequency that this task will be done i. I plan to do a comparitive study of this, but I’m sure that some of you may have already explored some of this. Does anyone have any information or suggestions that they would like to share on this topic? I’m sure that this information would be useful to a fairly broad audience of people.
