The new units are: The Material Valuation unit describes standard cost valuation, moving average valuation, and actual costing with the Material Ledger. The Easy Cost Planning unit includes a comprehensive exercise that enables participants to create characteristics, costing models, and costing templates.

The Case Study unit provides a detailed exercise that requires participants to configure a costing variant, costing type, valuation variant, and overhead costing sheet. After the configuration is complete, participants are asked to create cost estimates for two BOM structures whose master data will contain errors. Produuct must determine the cause of the errors and make appropriate corrections. Group Costing has been added to the Other Costing Functions unit. Changes have also been made to the Further Valuation Methods unit.

Costing configurable products has been moved from the Appendix to this unit. A three-day preparation period is recommended even for experienced instructors to become familiar with the new units and exercises. This instructor guide contains the time schedule and demos to present this course.

For more information about specific Product Cost Planning functions, see the notes in participant books and the online help. Subsidiaries may continue to offer the four-day version of this course by omitting the three new units.

The Preparing for Product Cost Planning unit will describe customizing ac055 costing variant to include costing type, valuation variant, overhead costing sheet, and template allocation. It will also describe the cost component split.

The third day will include topics such as updating the cost estimate to the material master, the costing run, and the use of transfer control.

The fourth day include the expansive unit Further Valuation Functions. With the extra time, it will be possible to complete all the exercises in the unit. An additional exercise has been included for Raw Material Costing.

The appendix includes a wide range of topics that you can teach if time and interest permit.

The new unit Material Valuation can be taught on the fourth day. This unit will describe the basic posting process for standard and moving average materials and introduce the benefits of actual costing with the material ledger.

The fifth day will include the new unit Easy Cost Planning ad the related exercise. On the afternoon of the fifth day, introduce the new Case Study. This unit will provide a busines scenario that will require participants to customize many tables of product cost planning and correct errors in the master data.
